I am about to file a provisional patent for my muse, but I was in the middle of setting up my site before it went live and realized I have barely any knowledge on ppc and affiliate stuff, or any other ad campaigns.
What I know I read tims guide on getting ad space in a magazine (which I will do once I do my initial testing of effective ads). I obviously know the basics from 4 hour work week, google analytics, a/b testing, etc. So overall, what do you reccomend, just going for it and messing around until I get it,or should I read any guides? My timeline I have 2 months until my product is in season (so I want to have everything fully up and running by then). I have a year before the provisional patent expires, since I think the idea is awesome (plus everyone that reviewed it wanted to buy it in my target market), I want to make enough $$$ by then to cover a full patent, if not by the the 10 month mark I will begin attempts to license it. |

Google Adwords ppc is by far the best avenue if you're looking for immediate results/traffic.
I would recommend signing up for an account and going through their basic training to become familiar with their key terms and basics of operation. If/when you've done that, I wrote a detailed response to a few basic questions that you may have that were asked by another curious budding Internet marketer. http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/vBul...ead.php?t=7314 Let me know if you have any specific questions about Google Adwords. Facebook & Youtube paid advertising is cheaper and generally more targeted than Adwords, might want to take a look into that too
Also MUCH less competition Cheers -Adam |

Ross- thx that link was extremely helpful , I'll give it a shot over the nxt wk. And thx for the offer, I will let you know if I have any questions.
adam- I'll keep those in mind too, especially if they have lower competition Overall, looks like it will be a busy week. I just realized a slight problem even though my product cost literally like 1-30 cents to make, I can only sell it for 5-10 dollars (10 is pushing it). Damn I see why Tim said create products 50-200 dollars, this greatly decreases the profit margin. I would prefer not to license it, but it is a fallback. The thing is my target market is extremely broad, however every person in my target market loves the product (each one wanted to buy my prototype for like $30 bc there is nothing out there solving the problem). Sry can't give to many details on the product yet, still trying to make the Provisional patent all nice. thx for all the input Last edited by bsiege; 05-31-2011 at 04:29 AM. |

The areas I've marketed (outside of my 4-hour project) do really not apply to Facebook users. I've heard very mixed reports on the Facebook front, so I haven't spent the time investing in it. |

I tried facebook ads for one of my failed muses and really struggled to get cheap enough clicks.
I ended up setting my max CPC at 50cents and I never ended up getting a single click. That being said, it could have been how targeted I had my traffic - however, I really struggled to get ad views at a decent price. |
