Hello All,
My name is Jimmy Smith and I am a known training and nutrition consultant. I write for various popular online and print magazines and my clients include elite athletes to housewives. I don't yet have a product(currently working on one).
I'd like everyone's opinion on two questions

1) Should I hire a VA to get the email addresses of editors in various magazines/papers/websites and have them contact the editor to introduce myself and promote my services as well as let them know if they need a quote or article then I'm there man?

2) Should I hire someone to do my SEO so that my name comes up first when people look for diet or training information?

Again keep in mind that this is done without a finished product.

Thanks
Jimmy

I took a look at your web site and at this point I'd recommend investing in a more professional web site first. You sound like a pro but your web site screams "I got the neighbor kid to build a site for me". The view counter at the bottom of the site is a dead give away, you've got broken picture links and I know the photo of you could be much better. Before you start sending editors to your site make sure it's as professional as you. Take a look at the templates at www.templatemonster.com and get a web designer to fill in the content. Good luck.

Ohhh, I agree about your website. It took me a while to figure out what the pictures of the magazines were doing there.

And the first thing that I looked for was something to learn, you asked if I want to look sexy- yah! I do. Give me some content and tell me how to do it, get me on your email list, send me some cool tips- then maybe I'll THINK about buying something from you when you have it.

Get people to trust you, sell them on YOU, then sell them on something and they'll buy it.

Also, get a niche market. Your website is competing against the mags that you have on your site. What do you love. Do you love helping out kids and families? How about marketing to overweight teens who want some help getting healthy, but are embarrassed to talk to their parents, how about baby boomers who are starting to get aches and pains.

Marketing to the whole health and fitness world will get you no where fast. Check out this website to learn how to start making money on your hobby without even having a product yet.
