Hello all,
I read Tim's book when it first came out, and have just now discovered this forum. I can't believe I didn't find it until now, having been unable to find anyone in real life who has the same ambitions as me.
Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone has explored creating something similar to Tim's brainquicken product. I don't mean another pill that makes you think faster, but pills that do other things -- not pharmaceuticals but just herbal mixtures.
I've started researching this before, but I've always had trouble getting started.
My main question is, how do you get started making a test product? Is there a place that you can send different recipes to and they send you back what you ordered, or do I just have to get a bunch of ingredients myself and play with it until I get it just right, then place a small order?
Thanks for reading, I appreciate the advice.

I don't know if this is something along the line of what you are looking for, but here you go:
chinese herbs
http://www.tradeeasy.com/suppliers/health-care-products/chinese-herbs.html
indian herbs
http://www.tradeget.com/Companies/Companies.aspx?id=S1&keyword=herbs
These seems to be able to help with R&D and formulas

Basically you can do it both ways, if you have the proper education.
I'm sure I've seen something about sending a recipe and they will mix it for you, not sure where, thou.
success to you,
Leif

I just found out about Tim's book recently as well. Funny thing is, I bought it because I found out that hes the creator of brainquicken, which I bought 8 years ago. I didnt really like the product but it is a really good concept.
How did Tim invent the ingredient formula for brainquicken?

Call a private label manufacturer. Google is your friend :)
They can make whatever you want...they WILL NOT test for you; you MUST give them exactly what you want. Reason being it is expensive for them to decommission one of their machines just to "test" products for you.
They will typically charge you a few (usually several hundred dollars) if you ALREADY HAVE a formula you want them to make a test run on (meaning they will make one container of the product for you and ship it to you).
If you decide to do that, MAKE SURE to get them to apply that "fee" to your future order. Otherwise, it is really a waste.
But to make a long story short; you WILL NEED to come up with the formula independently (what works for you? what works for your friends? research, research, research!!!). Come up with the formula you want to try but remember you might have to eat the cost of the test run if it does not work so you want to make sure you have the whole picture beforehand if at all possible.
Hope that helps!

Wow thanks for the great advice everybody.
It sounds like the best thing to do is to test the market out thoroughly ahead of time and make sure my product is going to sell before I even create it.

You got it.
But it is also worthwhile to look for competing products; just to figure out price points for yourself.
You should be looking to pay 25% percent of resale or so per unit...
Also, make sure to find out what the expiration date on the product would be given it being made on Day X.

Hello,
Use NutriCap, they are by far the best private label supplement manufacture I found. Also I create and tested a supplement, but im having some issues with testing ads and full on production. If you are interested in partnering or haring more ideas please send me a PM.

There are a few ingredients you could look for in herbal supplement or vitamin supplements that can boost your memory. These ingredients are all natural and help your brain nerves and cells to strengthen. Buying vitamins online is a better idea as you can compare the price and ingredients in that particular product.
