View Full Version : Changed my site, will it change my life?
These forums are so great because you get to solicit honest feedback from real people who are aligned to the life changing 4HWW concepts. After posting my old website to this forum last week I received some great feedback not only on my site but on my product offering too. As a result I have changed my product (which was initially only going to work for a few months out of the year) to adding a product that would take my business year round. So without further adieu Cold Weather Running (the old site) has now become www.X-tremerunning.com! It is powered by shopify to give it a secure and more trusted e-commerce experience for consumers and it includes a couple of great skin care products for runners who run in the cold and the heat. So… My question to all of you is – I changed my site, go have a look. Do you think it will change my life?
P.S. If you know anyone out there who’s a runner, help your 4HWW sister out and let them know about these great products :)

The site is so dark that I can barely make out what's on the page. A brighter font might be in order . . .

Thanks Frank! It is a dark site and I actually read something earlier today about the psychology of websites. Of course it mentioned that lighter sites with darker font are preferred so your timing is peferct. Thankfully Shopify allows you to change your website theme with a click of a button... Thanks again for the feedback, it's much appreciated!
Hey,
Looks like a great product, and upon reading the information you have on the site it looks like something I could buy. However, if I would not be looking it into it for you, I would have clicked away on the first page. It is not a great landing page.
Try to get the first page as captivating as possible.

Thanks for the feedback Max! You're right, the landing page doesn't draw you in... It appears to be a limitation of shopify (or at least my limitation in that I can't figure out how to change the landing page to be my 'About Us'). My 'About Us' page has a couple of cool pics of my husband and friend who have tried my product and are hooked. Thanks again for your feedback, I truly appreciate all the honesty! I'm off to navigate the administration site on Shopify - wish me luck...

I like the idea, My wife is a long distance runner and I will let her look at it. I have to comment on the colors. I would change them and go with lighter colors. Most runners I know enjoy running in places that are sunny and filled with great landscape.
Thanks,
kbernock

Thanks so much for your message! I have just changed my site to be much lighter colours. It even has an earthy feel to it - the background image of the site is grass. It's not as tacky as it sounds. It was one of the shopify default backgrounds. I thought 'why not'. Thanks again for your message and I would love it if you plugged it to your wife!

Hmm much improved, but now the text is kinda washed out. Can you bold all the text? That would really look good.

Recommend you have more testimonials / with pictures / videos / sound etc.
Trying to reply to a bunch of posts right now so I have to brief.
Also work on the links outside the site that point to this page.....Presell pages will sell this product once they land! Bloody nipples suck!

I wish I knew the code to bold the text on shopify. Maybe if this muse doesn't work out I'll start a new one and create a book on shopify 'how to's' :-). Thanks for your response and checking out my site! I hope the washed out text doesn't make people leave my site...

Thanks for your response Networkmemetics! I did try to include more photos and testimonials but unfortunately the layout on shopify wasn't working for me (I seem to be blaming Shopify a lot - hmmm...).
Can you expand on what you mean by pre-sell pages? Where would these get posted. Also, do you know of any "free" sites that are good for advertising and drawing traffic to your site (other than adwords - that costs money and I'm doing that now which isn't working out too well). Thanks again for your response!
