Appart from that, everything is in the title!
My muse is a teaching DVD and I will also give free articles and videos in a blog on the website.
So which way to go? Any recommandations?

I tried them both and finally went with typo3, because it was more complex and I could configure my site easier. But that is your choice... I dont know how much programming skills you posess. Typo3 seems very hard to manage at first, but if you have someone that has already made a site with typo or if you are experienced in teaching yourself it is probably the best option.

I'm a programmer in WordPress so I always recommend that :) There are tons of programs and it is easy to use. I have clients who are retired and run websites in WordPress so that shows how easy it is to use.
Here is an example of a WordPress site running ecommerce: www.networkcamerastore.com (it is using my WordPress Ecommerce Plugin which you can contact me for....currently its free)

It seems WP is winning, and that was my prefered choice to begin with because of its simplicity, so I'll go with it.
I have already started to use it and I like it, it seems not too complicated to handle.
Also, do you guys have any advices, tips or links on how to make single product website for selling a DVD like the one I need.
I mean I don't want it too bloggy and the few themes I've tested so far are all very bloggy (in a sense that's normal it's a blog CMS!).
Am I suppose to modify a theme? or find a theme for my purpose? Or does the ecommerce plugin will add the features like the "buy box" at the top of my homepage?
Thanks again for your help.

Check out http://wpremix.com/ it's a wordpress template that is a CMS for e-commerce. it's not too "bloggy" and it has a special layout for ebooks or content. It will cost you $70 or so.
Here's a demo of all the different types of page layouts http://wpremix.com/demo/

There are many good themes here: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/
If you are running a single product website, you don't need a complicated theme and should be able to get by with the free ones.
Your best bet for a single DVD purchase site is using PayPal's Buy Buttons or WP PayPal plugins here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=paypal&sort=
If you are looking to build on your store, you can use this plugin: http://www.firestorminteractive.com/wordpress/ecommerce/

It is an easy theme so I'm sure there is something similar in the WordPress theme directory :) (link above).

I do some search, almost every simple theme contain words such as "October 10th, 20xx | tags: XXX,XXX | Comments Off" under or upon the post, that's not for business site.
any method to modify the theme to make it have static homepage or any exist theme we can use?

Those appear on "Posts" (Blog Posts). You can create Pages which shouldn't have those but it depends on the theme - some still show it and some don't.
To set your homepage to a "Page", go to Settings -> Reading. You can then set the Blog page and Home page.

I recommend Wordpress and theme that you pay for like Thesis or Flex Squeeze....What you pay in a PROFESSIONAL theme you will pay 10x in time.

Joomla will give you a bit more flexibility. WordPress will give you a really nice admin page. Both are excellent.
While I personally prefer Joomla, WP is probably a fraction easier to get started (though Joomla has a stack of mighty nice free extensions).
