View Full Version : Leveraging My Skills?

I'm trying to come up with a muse and would greatly appreciate any input on how to leverage my skills.

I work as a teacher of English as a Foreign language - helping foreign students pass English exams and also to do well in college using academic English. I'm also experienced in teaching business English.

Initially, I thought of a website to check people's resumes/CVs.

But that seems to service oriented and not easily automated.

Since then I've had a couple of ideas. Do you think they are realistic, and just as importantly, automated?

1. Make a DVD on writing a good resume/CV. I've taught this subject at universities. My worry is it is too broad a market and not a small enough niche. I could combine this with a video on how to do well in interviews e.g. how to answer interview questions.

2. Make a DVD on writing essays or how to write answers for a specific English exam. My worry here is there are already professional products out there by UK universities.

I'm thinking about who would want to buy such products. Do people who are going to attend an interview really invest in DVDs to practise? Likewise, do students taking exams need my writing skills DVD? Won't they already have books and/or a teacher?

Thanks for any input on how to leverage my teaching/communication skills in to a doable muse.
