Hello all...

This is my first post - so bear with me here! I'm reading Tim's book and considering leaving my job and starting my own business, however I want to land a contract for my services with my current employer. Basically I will be outsourcing my own job.

Type of business:

Professional Services: Project Management and Training for Hosted VOIP B2B Service providers with a Broadsoft switch. Very niche - however, hosted VOIP is growing market and Broadsoft is the biggest in the industry. I was the top sales producer for 2 years straight and have been running operations for a year. I know the switch, how to consult with customers and am well respected within my company and local market.

I pitched my plan to our VC today (felt like I was on Shark Tank). Outsource to me - save them $15K per/mo and I land a contract for our next 5 installs making more than I am today with a better lifestyle. Is anyone out there doing consulting/pro. services that can give me some advise running this type of business?

Thanks!
Katie

Katie - sounds like a good plan. I know Broadsoft well ... definitely the biggest and best in the space. Go for it. You have credibility with them and they won't wanna lose you.

Don't just show them how you are going to save them money by doing what you are doing, show them how you are going to make them money.......and then show them!
In the book, Tim consistently goes over how to make the transition from 9-5 in the office to "show me the money" worker. His examples work very well for your type of business.
Can you teach and train what you do to others who can do it? IS what you do essentially a system where you are amazed that others aren't able to "close" the way you do? They can't because they don't have a system and won't implement.
4HWW shares the concept, not a new one, on how to make this move.

FYI, I just outsourced a bunch of my 80/20 (the 80 part) and am teaching the VA how to do all of it. It may take a couple of months before she is completely trained, taking it one step and one project at a time, but it will save me the 80 and I will have freed up my time to have, be, and do all the other stuff on my dreamline.....

I often see in these posts how people go to their bosses, make a deal to cut hours, save the boss money, etc.....backwards.....make a deal to MAKE THEM MONEY and then show them, through all the techniques described in the book, the results.

Go for it.
