I am considering doing shoes as a muse. Drop shipping a "special niche" training shoe for amateur athletes. I'm an amateur athlete myself so it makes sense. And there is demand for it on eBay. However, the manufacturing time has been hard to find.
Has anyone done a shoes muse? Do you think it can be done? and whats the manufacturing lead time on shoes?

Help Appreciated.

Shoes worked for Zappos, but they are pretty well financed.

OK.
My niche is "basketball players who want to get enough vertical jump height to dunk". What do you think? Pretty niche right?

I think that Nike airs have a pretty good hold on that segment. Other things that came to mind are:
Buying shoes is a very tactile experience for me (especially athletic shoes)
How can you assure proper sizing?
Selection - Sizes x colors x womens & mens = humongous inventory
PL issues. "Your shoe hurt my foot..."
Product claims, Shoes that make you jump higher is pretty difficult to substantiate.
Googling your idea got me no hits. On the other hand, there were thousands of lites that talked about increasing your running speed, jumping height and teaching people how to jump. Your specific idea clearly has a lot of issues you need tow work through, but the market seems to be there.
My advice? Dump shoes and come up with something else designed for the same market.

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate all constructive criticism and advice.
I have already dropped the idea of selling Strength Shoes. Like you said too many choices for the customer. Also, drop shipping is mainly for back end products. I am now brainstorming an audio CD collection on height increase for sports.
Thanks again for the reply BTW what muses do you have senior member?
