I recently added the facility to one of my muse sites where people can pay by cheque or by bank transfer, where previously it was just credit card or Paypal. I was getting sick of answering questions from users asking if they could pay by cheque.
Since doing this, sales have increased significantly (maybe 30 - 40%), and more than half of the orders are now paid by cheque or bank deposit.
It's a bit of a hassle having to verify the payment before shipping the goods, but there are more orders so I can live with that.
I thought I would share this with the forum - your niche may be different to mine, but it would certainly seem that by offering alternative payment options means you open yourself up to a bigger piece of the market. Give it a try and see what happens.
