Hi

If you read some of Robert Kiyosaki's books he often do mention that some of the Multi Level Marketing (network marketing) company's have excellent sales training, do any of you guys know which one's he is referring to ? I have seen some, but i never really have seen that they has such a good sales training as Robert says ?

If you know a place or some ideas on how to get great sales training, please share your thoughts :-)

Thanks

The bottom line you need to understand about making real money in MLMs is that it's not a product-based business...it's a people-based business. Your job is to "hire" people to sell/hire people who will be under you in the downstream.

If you dislike people, dislike talking to random people trying to get them into the system, then don't bother with it unless you just happen to like the product. You will not get rich just "selling" whatever item/service the MLM is about.

You are right about that, but actually the question was more about if it is true or not, that some MLM has such a great sales training that Robert K. says they have ?

Of all the MLMs I am familiar with, and there are only a couple so I admit my experience is limited, training comes in a couple forms:

1. Your "upline"/sponsor showing you some techniques. This might be a one-on-on, group or other "lessons", or they may let you accompany them and watch how they do it.

2. More commonly, however, are the tapes, books, seminars, etc. that individuals and companies sell to MLM participants. Some of these may be directly affiliated with a particular MLM, however some of them are "independants" who do it as their living (Dani Johnson, Doug Firebaugh, Brian Tracy are a couple). These cost money. Remember the idea is multiple streams of income..."training" is theres.

Remember, the idea isn't to be the gold miner, but to sell the shovels, picks and gold pans to the miners. That's what these trainers do.

Now, directly to what Kiyosaki wrote: I can't say since I've only ever been involved in 1 MLM. Training materials always cost money, but some training conference calls with "top producers" and the company founder were free and mostly consisted of talking points about the service/product. Not much on actual sales techniques.

I didn't learn much from joining an MLM company.

HOWEVER, I learned a TON from training as a Time Share salesman. (I quit after after three months)

If you're not working right now and want some good sales training, and NLP training, sell times shares for a month or two. =)

and NLP training

What sucks for you guys is when someone like me, who is in marketing and sales and has read a bunch of sales technique books, has to sit in one of those (#^%*# presentations and catches nearly every one of them.

It's even funnier to throw them back at the salesperson. :)

So true :)

Check out people like the YouTube Ninja and Maria Andros for some cutting edge stuff.

As far as "sales" go...why not go with Dale Carnegie?

Personally, I wouldn't go searching for an MLM just for the sales training, as that would probably end up being largely a waste of time. Why don't you check out some Tom Hopkins, or Zig Ziglar?

Thank you for sharing the information.

Ongoing sales training programs are very important for any business, as they can help salespeople to maintain a good level of sales performance. It is important to note that the great majority of salespeople only improve their selling performance at first, being unable to progress further without frequent sales training interventions.

Most people that keep on training in the same field do not train to add to their skills but to suppress their sense of not being good enough. A lot of trainers train others for the same reason. (which does not mean that all trainers are bad)

I would have to day that it is not the MLM that does the training. If you want to get better at sales then start studying people who sell. It is not the product, it is the people. Think of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Have you ever actually listened to one of them? They do one hell of a sales job. Yes that is an extreme example, but it is still a valid point.

Within the same MLM, you can find members from all over the spectrum. From the guy who takes you under their wing and makes you read Carnegie, Harnel, Hill, and the classics to die hard theory of attraction believers, to soap box preachers.

Your mentors will change with time/income/and many other factors. Your chances of finding a mentor in an MLM is actually pretty high relative to your average company. Members tend to be highly motivated and conversant with the basic sales literature because they rely on the people below them to keep up sales volumes, and by training those below them to be more effective salesmen, they increase their own income. Kind of like compound interest.

In sales training (http://www.UnlockTheGame.com) one should focus on training individuals in their weak areas, and leverage their strengths to help in the effort. Schedule ongoing training sessions that range from 15 minutes to one hour each, depending on topic and individual needs. Make sure ongoing and consistent weekly or monthly follow-up takes place which is critical for successful transformation.

I have seen very very few people who actually made money with MLM
Usually they are so connected and talented and hard working that they would make tons of money elsewhere

Many of the larger ones will have a FTC - Federal Trade Commission report and other disclaimers that show REAL numbers as required by law on how many people make what amounts --- for one of the very largest (I wont pick on it by name) there were something like 7 people making over $100,000

I would agree with all of the comments here. I would like to add this body of knowledge.

Every job you get, must push you to be where you intend to go. I do not think you can be a entrepreneur without knowing how to sell. If I were new to this, with big dreams. I would become a telemarketer selling Advertising, to become good on the phone. Then, I would move on the in home selling on an inexpensive product(insurance is good). Then, on to something that gives people sticker shock, so you become comfortable with the dead silence. (windows or home improvement).

Once you become good at those, Try a company called IPA, and sell management consulting. You walk into a 20 million dollar business and talk the CEO out of 50k in billing in two hours. They hire a lot of people. Out of the 17 I started with, after a week they had all quit. Make sure you have some savings, because getting paid and closing a deal are two separate things.

Lastly, talk to women who want nothing to do with you. Obviously, this will not work if you are grotesque, you do not have to be handsome. This will teach you to deal with rejection, overcome objections, and Think quickly. I was 22 when me and a buddy started a t-shirt company. We did this everyday for a year, first one to 3 numbers had to buy beers.

This is the 1st year I ever tried to make money online. I have made some money, but I have a long way to go. I am old school in your face type and I know at some point I will have to call upon those skills again.

Sales training can assist your sales force on many different levels of sales. Sales training is not just about getting clients or taking orders, it involves daily follow up care, customer satisfaction, attitude and many other aspects of sales. Sales training will assist your sales force on different levels of service.

I don't know if what a good MLM gives you is sales training. The main emphasis is building your network (at least it should be). Selling makes the company money, not you. Building a network makes you money. So the best type of training would emphasize connecting with people, building relationships, and learning how to share success with others.

AS far as MLM sales training goes, it really comes down to the "team" your on. And in any MLM business there are many "teams". I have many friends, some successful and some not, in MLM and it is the "team" who decides the training path. Admittedly, I am involved in an MLM (it made sense for many reasons) and I have attended some of the training (all free) and I have received some great information. I don't have time to sit in numerous sales training classes but because of the service I have bought into and the free training I have attended some and have found it helpful. But I am in total agreement with an above statement, sometimes the training is in fact to keep you from falling into the "I suck" mindset, since the most common result of most sales calls is rejection.

The "sales training" that MLM's give you is the training in how to sell people into working for you without wages for commission only. You learn how to do that and you'll make a bloody fortune.

its been a while since your post, but are you strictly meaning your direct sponsor or someone in the up-line that takes on that responsibility? and would you really consider choosing someone as a sponsor other than the person that first talked to you about the business opportunity?

Kiyosaki and Trump tell you to find one you like yourself. Many are good and some are bad.

There are some who promote wealth training or personal deveopment along as the product and of course Amway type where you sell and use the products and develop a team.

You need to check the Direct Sales listings for your country and see who is registered and check out the company and the products. If you don't like and use the products then you can recommend them.

Best of luck.

Paul
