Hi There

I am a new reader and subscriber to this section of the site and I must say that I have found Tim's words a breath of fresh air and a real wake up call. However I am interested to know if people have been able to adopt his practices to make the kind of impact on their own lives that Tim tells us are possible.

Please let me know, I am not after specfics but just has this stuff really worked for people.

Thanks

Graham

His productivity advice is working for me. Also planning my first mini-retirement for this summer, been window shopping for plane tickets, and his advice on buying tickets seems legit too. Elance, a website he recommends for finding people to do work for you, seems to be working well so far.

I bought the book last week and have started the productivity suggestions and have really noticed a difference.

checking email twice a day instead of twenty times a day
pared my Google Reader feeds down using Pareto's 80/20
I've got 2 index cards stuck to my computer with key questions from the 4HWW. First card says: "If this is the only thing I accomplish today, will I be satisfied?" Second card has two other questions from the book: (1) "Am I being productive or just active?" (2) "Am I inventing things to do to avoid the important?"

I'm using a simplified GTD/hipster PDA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipster_pda) with a couple of index cards just for organization and to get ideas and thoughts out of my head and onto paper. Still searching for my 'muse' though, but now I'm committed to finally start my own business.

I am totally on board with the ideas in the book - its more the launching and sucessfully running of the muse that I am interested in as these rely more on other peoples actions ie. customers purchasing than our own actions. I also am on a low information diet which is great.

Has anyone done the lie down in a crowded environment exercise?

Don't do it in an airport. Acting a bit out of the ordinary in an airport seems to really freak people out.

For a much cooler impact, try laying down on an escalator (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZYuRk1pFO0). Much cooler effect.

Its definatly changed every aspect of the way I work, my muse (I like to call it my mule -as its what carries my rock n roll arse around) is slighlty different to Tims as I bought NMD property in the UK which brings in a few quid from rental and cashbacks when I buy, and I'm an IT securlty consultant, so I oftern do a few weeks work here and there with that in what ever country I'm in at the time. But I'm currently in Switzerland skiing, and then in Feb I'm off to Chile and then to Canada, after that at the end of March i'm off Marathon training in the Scottish highlands... then its back to London for the Flora London Marathon in April... I wouldn't be where I am today I dont think if it wasn't for Tims work theorys... I especially love 80/20, I applied it to training, property even my friends....

I'm working on a muse. It will be live by the middle of next month. The goal is to replace my wife and I's jobs when we return from Ireland. We'll be studying abroad during the spring semester, so I have 6 months to replace our crappy-retail job incomes.

I have more fully implementing low-info diet. For example, I used to read the school paper and afterwards kind of wonder why I wasted my time. The book was the smack upside my head that I needed to stop! No TV, so I didn't bother with news anyway.

Sounds like you have had some good success with Tims principals David. At the moment I am as skint as the preverbial church mouse. However my back ground is in sales, marketing and webdesign coupled with SEM tools. I am thinking of developing a large number of online shops that bring in a small amount of profit each day £10 - £20 although with about 50 stores. Each store will be fulfilled using a dropshipping company.

I want to make this as automated as possible - what do people think in general am I barking up the wrong tree or is spreading my bets a good idea.
