Hi Everybody I'm Leo,
Quick question:
The Muse Math Doc [http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/bonus/pdf/musemath.pdf] says:

I used the Overture Keyword Selector Tool
(http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/) and typed in “speed reading” to find that there were 6,408 searches for that term alone the prior month.

1. Overture represents approximately 28% of the total searches done on the major search engines, so I multiplied 6,408 x 3.57 (100/28 = 3.57) = 22,876 total
searches online for “speed reading”.

But Overture is dead and I used the Adwords Keyword Tool [ https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal ] and in november my keyword has been searched 18.100 times in November, but Google how much % represents of the total searches done on the major search engines? (Overture was 28%).

and

18'100 Google-searches/month is just too little for a Muse?

Thank You

Recently I've come to think that search marketing is over-rated for driving mega volume to your site. If you are truly operating in a niche, there will never be enough clicks to add up to much. Though you may get more than is reported through AdWords tools using broadmatch features, since I believe the keyword tool only shows you exact matches. Granted there is a lot I don't know yet about SEM.

I'm curious what other people credit as their main traffic drivers. I have to think that "word of mouth" advertising methods, such as guest posts on related blogs (which is free to do btw) do a better job of establishing a permanent flow of traffic to your site.

One of my clients is a niche seller. With SEO alone I bring in over 2,000 visitors per day. That is not a ton, but it's a highly targeted market and we get the lion's share.

Persistence is really the key. I use statcounter.com and then I follow some hot phrases and start adding them to other listings. I stay away from really broad match phrases because they don't bring in our buyers. Instead I use pieces of broad match phrases and add an adjective I think they search by and it works.

Or I just hear something on the radio and "eureka" I start using that phrase on the internet and sure enough, the clicks are there. It's more intuitive than any lesson to be honest. It's knowing my target market well enough. I stumbled around a while but if you just peruse your own stats, you get a feel for it.

Once you are an established url, you start getting ranked for things much faster, usually within one or two weeks and sometimes I luck out and snag something in two hours by sheer luck or by virtue of the fact the stars line up just right or something.

Because of this thread I took a look at my stats again. For december 83.1% of visitors is a direct access or bookmark.
The estimated bookmarking of my site is.... hold on...

65.2% for december but it has been almost 80% in some months!

And I think that is all about the "add to favorites" button prominently displayed on the website.

I put one of those social bookmarking add utilities on my blog recently, but never occurred to me to put bookmarking on the store page. That sounds like it could be quite good.
