Hi guys,

First post on here, although have been browsing for a short while. :)

I have decided on a very basic and very automated test muse which will never make me enough money to live like a king on, but is going to be a very good test case so I can get my hands dirty and be in better shape for some larger ideas I am putting together.

Some simple (i hope) questions for you and really appreciate any help:

1) I did a search on goolge adwords for the CostPerClick price of a specific search term i would like to use, located here:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal?defaultView=2

It came out at £3.66 CPC. Is this very high or it it just me? what determines the price of specific search terms?

2) My muse is a simple website that will require only 1 page of product information and the subsequent "back office" pages for ordering, FAQ etc. Purchasing the product initiates a download of a file to the purchaser. I want to include credit/debit cards, paypal etc.

Can you reccomend a very basic, cheap, but reliable e-commerce provider that can assist. I've done numerous searches and there are so many options and i don't really understand it all.

Any other advice you think i need, feel free!

many thanks again for any help.

try the pay pal shopping cart, i hear good things about it and it has free setup, no monthly fees and the rates arent horrible. i have seen worse. in regards to what sets the bid price it has alot to do with search volume. highly searched keywords are obvioulsy going to cost more. this is where diligence pays in keyword research. it really pays to niche down a generic keyword. if you have any questions or would like to discuss further please dont hesitate to shoot me a private message.

That's a pretty higher-end pricing only considering "normal" keyword prices (not the 30 dollar per click things). Usually with a little bit of taking care on the adwords side, you can get min-bids to between 2/100th and 4/100th of what is displayed in this tool you choose.

The Displayed Price estimate is largely based on competition and their bidding prices, and also your history in this adwords account if log in and applicable, not really search volume, but what matters is that you figure out the way to pay, for example, only .40 on this keyword and get good results. Which won't be that hard.

Just make sure you stick to the one adgroup per keyword (but this one in all three match types, of course, unless ctr differs for more than 1% in between or it's only .8 but in between .3 and 1.1, for example) approach. You can do that easily once you've put a little bit of learning time into using google adwords editor combined with a spreadsheet to get your data into the required format for bulk adwords + bulk ads editing.

Deeplinking into google keyword tool won't work, usually, so name the keyword if you want specific input instead.

thanks for the replies guys,

I've been doing some more research into adwords, paypal etc etc when i've had time and i'm pretty much ready to go. One major flaw is that my website hasn't been created yet (i have been researching a lot to ensure my muse will be viable before even thinking about putting the effort in to get the site created).

Anyway, it really will be very simple site and i've been searching for companies/developers to create it. The problem i'm having is that there is too much choice (what a saturated market that it!). I've also done a number of searches on here but unfortunately almost all posts have the words or phrases i;ve searched.

What i need is a recommendation for a developer to make my site. Again, it is very simple site. Usually i would spend the time to teach myself but time is a premium right now! A lot of the artwork i will supply and it will have 1 main page, FAQ, ordering etc.

Anyone with positive experiences at low cost?

many thanks guys!

I hired a designer yesterday on ScriptLance.com for a logo in 4 sizes cost me $15 plus a bonus I paid him as he turned it around in 3 hours.

So I would recommend listing details of your requirements on ScriptLance, you don't pay a thing until the job is done, you can read reviews of the developers/designers bidding on the job before you choose one and you can set the budget.

Just make sure you specify what you require in as much detail as possible.

All the best
