I'm a guitarist and musician who is going to be graduating with a Bachelor of Music in performance and music business this may, heading to grad school next year for a Masters of Music (again in performance). I know my way around the instrument and music...a little.

I'm reading 4HWW right now and trying to brain storm ideas for a muse. Any other musicians in here? What did you come up with?

I'm thinking e-book as a music theory guide (improvisation, etc.) for the layman guitarist.

Thoughts? Music doesn't seem like the ideal field to work with Ferris' advice, but who knows!

Also: poor college student, what is everyone's opinion of testing on e-bay for selling an e-book?

In this day and age creating an ebook on how to play guitar is kind of silly, when people have full blown videos and tutorials.
So yeah. Think about that.

It would not be a method book. More a guide to music theory with clear instruction on chord construction, and how to use scales for improvisation.

Also, this would serve a dual purpose. I need materials to use with my students and am not satisfied with the current things on the market. I'd be writing myself a small reference to give to student in addition to perhaps selling it.

Musician here, unemployed. I play outdoors for pocket cash. Reading ferris' book right now. I feel like alot of it doesn't apply to me. Seems like everything after outsourcing is pretty much useless. :(

BUT, the idea of giving yourself limited time to complete things in order to gaina greater focus and cut out activities which aren't profitable makes sense.

My idea before was that I would need to do marketing, create artwork and do everything possible to get my career up and running and all this was just stuff to make me feel like i was busy and i wasn't getting anything done.

Took TWO hours today and finished two songs i haven't been getting to for weeks.

Being organized is really important.

Personally, I don't want to muck around with ebooks, instructional websites and such like that.

1) Create album - This is my product
2) Play Shows - Which I enjoy doing and which is going to be how i sell the most cd's at first.
3) Learn to produce music videos or even better - get someone else to do it.
4) Use my friends to help market my work through social media engines.
5) Sell album through amazon hard copies and Itunes

That's my plan so far. I'm going to really go back and read tim's book. Everything up to the automation steps seem really useful to me and they seem to be the foundation of how he got where he is.

Any opinions on my ideas would be greatly appreciated.
