View Full Version : Is anyone successfully selling info products online?

Hey Gang,
I've been considering jumping into the info product fray - however I had been holding off because of the perceived negative perception these have, for example "there are far too many info products and most are junk - the only ones making money on info products are people selling info products on how to create your own info product". You know what I mean.
I've been reconsidering this stand after hearing about folks that are apparently making money selling videos on ebay using the "featured" listing upgrade - which has landed their ebay listing at the top of Google search results - all this with no website, PPC costs, etc.
So I ask the 4HWW commmunity - is anyone making money on info products? Are you selling ebooks, videos, cd's? Are you selling these on your own website, ebay, amazon? And just so we can have a feel for the level of success, can you share approximate revenues / profits for a given month? Thanks - Jeff
I guarantee you that selling infoproducts via clickbank with pay per click is VERY VERY profitable.
If I were you, invest all the money you can and all the time you have to M-A-S-T-E-R google adwords.
And test test test test.....and test again.
Can you share some numbers?
I will but my muses are not live yet so I don't have any statistical data.

Hey Jeff,
I sell and make money directly from the sale of info-products. The "products" are actually downloadable PDF's (http://www.insideuniverse.com/FreedomTechnology/index.htm) (ebooks) from within an online community infrastructure. This choice of structure, rather than, say, a simple single "thank you" download page, is because we have a deeper, broader agenda than just making money or even building a list. We seek to build a visionary aligned community and shift world civilization. And, as you'll see if you visit our page, the books are not at all about "how to make your own info-product". Although Portable Trades & Occupations leans in that direction. Just a tad.
Over the years (since about 1997!) I taught myself how to code HTML/CGI and started making money mainly promoting affiliate programs, such as the Internet Marketing Warriors (for those that remember such "heady" days).
Today, one method I succeed with is a self-hosted website (I can set you up with a fully functional hosting account for a couple of bucks a month, if you wanna PayPal me a year in advance-- yes, that's another income stream!), where we use ClickBank as the payment processor and their built-in affiliate program that generates the bulk of our sales.
Of worthy note, the affiliates that generate the most sales for us have Pre-Sold our ebooks/website by creating such things as Squidoo lenses or making self-written recommendations to their pre-existing lists and memberships. This confirms the "secret" of the super-affiliates. Make pre-selling content *before* you make the link/recommendation. Having some credibility with your audience helps tremendously.
This all further reinforces the "web 3.0" trend toward trust and reputation as being the new "currency" online. Part of our Vision foresees those "currencies" eventually becoming embedded offline aswell. It's exciting times...
Sharing specific numbers of revenue I consider vulgar. Suffice to say, I more than survive full-time from online income, and you should pursue your own infopreneurial enterprise with great haste.
The Procivilization is "counting" on it ;)

James, I would love to pursue some of the ideas that you mention, and I agree that it's a worthy pursuit, however, myself and others still need to know HOW to do it. So, for someone like myself, who desires to learn HOW to do it, where should I start? As I mentioned in another post, there is so much garbage and crap out there in cyberspace that it gets overwhelming to know HOW to do this legitimately and correctly. I'm willing but I just need to learn.

Check out "Moonlighting on the Internet" by Yanik Silver. It has everything you need in order to create an info product, plus resources for other type of ventures.

I composed a rather lengthy response for you last night FHouston, but webgal apparently deleted it.
She may have a copy in this forum's archives (if it stores deleted posts) that if you ask nicely she may be able to provide to you.
All the best anyway :)

Not unless whoever deleted it has a copy in this forum's admin area, as I (somewhat foolishly -- or should I say naively) didn't make a back up of it myself before posting.
Let that be a lesson to anyone spending more than 10 or 15 minutes on a post -- Back Up Your Own Work!
May I make a couple of recommendations to admin/moderators?
[Oh, thanks! :)]
1. If you come across a post that is *clearly* more content than "advertisement/selling" (especially if that "advertisement/selling" is contextual to the post, thread and forum) then just modify the links, or something, don't just delete the whole thing.
2. Simply turn on the signature block for *all* forum members, not just moderators.
Cheers,
James
Though not a mod, why should it be their job to parse your (or anyone else's work)?
Next, the signature block thing has been discussed before, and as I remember it, the exclusion of this feature was a decision by Ferriss precisely to prevent the inclusion of "sales" links.

i too know the sting of a deleted well-meaning thread/post. can we get the jist/re-type of it? if you leave it as it is, the ppl u sought to help will be at a loss of your contribution.
