I have been doing some brainstorming about some niche ideas. I tested a couple last week and it turned out to be duds, however I may go back to them in the future and try to refine the sales letter, etc.

However to the idea at hand. One of the things that I have a huge interest in is history. Mostly everything from 1500-1000bc. The reason being, that this is a very interesting time, when the earth was still huge, however the conquering of the sea and the building of roads was making it much smaller.

Anyway I would love to be able to create a muse from this, but I really have no idea how. History books are usually bought from "experts" and these experts usually have P.hD's so that avenue is really cut-off.

I am not really sure what the market is, what people want, etc. I could start a blog and go at it that way, but that is time intensive both startup and to maintain.

Does anyone here have some ideas, or even be able to shine some light on a angle that I haven't thought of.

Thanks,

Jeff

Get together with a publisher of such history books, license one of their titles that hasn't been out in the past 5 years, get toghether with a programmer and create a fun to use educational with a lot of pictures software for kids.
How you like them apples?

anything in pop culture you're familiar with??

I know they have lots of niche books like 'learn philosophy through seinfeld!'

and they'll equate characters to their historic philosophical counterparts through stories, etc. I mean watch Bill and Ted, that's exactly what they did, they taught history to a new audience through fictional characters and bringing them into the modern era.

you could make a board game out of it, line of toys, or write a book that teaches lessons using stories from history and target it at parents who want to start educating their children while they're still young. lots and lots of cool things to do.

I really like both of those ideas. However I am not a parent....and really not part of the parenting "market". I am not sure how much time I can spend researching this, the physc of child learning, marketing to parents etc, without it "feeling" like work.

As for pop-culture, I think that I could do something like that....maybe with Family Guy, etc. But to do this, do I have to get licensing rights from the creators?

Anybody else?
