I am just getting into the marketing side of one my muses. This video came across in an email this morning:
Think you can’t get cheap PPC clicks on Google anymore? Guess again. (http://masscontrolsite.com/blog/?p=29)
This sounded like Swahili the first time I listened to it, but it made some sense the second time. Does anyone else have some resources that they use to evaluate and create a strategy for search engine advertising?

Hi Kamakiri,
I learnt from Perry Marshall & Andrew Goodman - I think they're still the best out there.
As you probably know by now having been on this forum for a while, I have a free 5 day AdWords course - over an hour of free content, no pitch! You know my address, so no need to post again.
The AdWords learning centre is also an excellent resource.
& I agree with Italian-Job, start with AdWords, test, test, test, then expand.
Happy to brainstorm your strategy if you like. You've contributed heaps to this forum. PM me & we'll set up a 30 min call. no charge.
Cheers,
Mike

kamakiri- I took a look at that video and it was so boring I could not make it. You are a valuable contributor to this forum and your posts are very helpful and thoughtful. So I'm hoping I've not insulted you. It may be others will find it helpful.
I just like Mike's MUCH better. It really boils things down. And perhaps his Australian accent and his personality makes it livelier. And it's split up. I watched it just as he intended, over the course of 4 days. I even knew a great deal of what he went over but there was enough new information that I found it very valuable.
Italian_job, may I borrow your post for my blog? I can give you credit. I want to start adding a lot about ppc as it pertains to a target audience. And I think I need some posts besides mine to sort of change things up.
<quote>5) ONLY after you have completed the steps above, you can now venture yourself into SEO. Optimize your website for "Long tail keywords".</quote>
Interesting.. Why not integrate site optimization from the beginning when creating your site? A good long term autopilot SEO strategy incorporates ideas that you would want to do at the creation stage of the site anyways.
Maybe I am misunderstanding the above?

Webgal - Thanks for the comment. I am clueless about PPC and a lot of the terms surrounding it, and it is good to know that people have opinions here and more experience than I do.
I do enough 'constructive criticism' here that I would hope everyone looks critically at my own posts, and lets me know about it.
Mike - Thanks for the offer. I will take a look at that adwords course. I actually didn't notice it before, but that is probably due to a bad habit I have of basically ignoring stuff I know nothing about.
IJ - I will start that process today.
Thanks guys (&gal).

Sorry to double post here, but webgal (and anyone else), what do you think of these guys?
hexatrack (http://www.hexatrack.com/)
and
the new ppc blog (http://www.thenewppc.com/blog/)
Are they guys like us trying to make a buck, or resources I need to get more use out of my marketing dollars.

Well, both. A fellow copywriter friend just wrote a sales letter for a guy with a great ppc tracker but I think it's for the more advanced user.
I don't know about hexagon, but I presume the jv partners are helping to promote it. So I don't know if it's worthwhile or not to be honest with you.
